The one name that has been able to withstand everything that is thrown at it is Razer. Over the years, the manufacturer has been able to cement its place in the gaming industry. Today, we will be looking at two of its top-notch units, Razer Blackshark V2 vs V2 X.
As their name implies, there is not much of a difference between the two models. They both offer you with stunning audio quality, come with a good design and price. The V2 X is a cheaper version of the V2.
We felt that this was the ideal time for Razer to produce fantastic models for the market. That is because they have heard the feedback from their consumers. This was when they decided to come up with a proper eSports gaming headset.
The Razer Blackshark V2 are exceptional gaming headsets that come with a sleek design. Besides, it also comes with several features to customize. It also has a USB for using the Synapse 3 software to customize the sound and adjust the sound setting.
The audio profile is good, but the positioning is also crucial for experiencing it. Though we felt that the performance was not convincing, it works efficiently on most devices and gaming consoles.
The Razer Blackshark V2 X does not have too many features besides the companion software, USB, providing decent audio. Users will find them quite comfortable to wear for prolonged hours without facing issues.
You will like the boom microphone because it can capture the voice clearly. The headphones come with a virtual soundstage feature. Sadly, the bass and treble delivery can be slightly annoying, just when you want to hear opulent sound quality.
On the whole, these excellent headsets are exceptional in their way. You can do a lot with these units in your procession.
Let us read the review and find out which unit outsmarts the other in terms of features.

DESIGN & COMFORT
Razer models are known for their solid comfort and design. With the large Razer logo, the models come with a fantastic look. You will want to see that design is similar to the headsets found on planes.
But they provide you with exceptional design and comfort. The Razer Blackshark V2 model comes with a matte black and green logo. However, the finger marks are shown easily on it. This is something that you may not like.
The V2 has stitching on the sides of the earcups giving it an elegant appearance. It comes with adequate foam padding on the earcups. Though it is quite soft, our tester thought that they could have put in the additional coating as it was not smooth.
However, the V2 gaming headset is that the thick earcups provide you with sufficient breathing space. When your ears do contact the wall of the earcup, there is no discomfort felt inside. Coming to the V2 X, it has a coarse texture preventing fingerprints from forming in there.
Having said that, the design and comfort of the unit are good. The Razer logo can be found on the top of the headband. However, this model comes with no stitches. With the V2 X, you really can feel the plastic behind the lining.
We liked the material on the earcups on the V2 X as they were light and breathable. However, they can accumulate heat as you wear them for a long time. You will be delighted to know that the material comes with decent passive noise isolation.
The background noises are blocked in a cheap model, which is commendable. We found a few differences in the units. Our tester liked the appearance of the V2 X, and the Razer logo located on the unit is green with a matte black design.
On the whole, both the headsets come with a sublime design and comfort. You can wear them for long hours, without feeling any discomfort.
BUILD QUALITY
The build quality of the Razer Blackshark V2 and the V2 X were good. They both are from the same brand. So, do they come with any difference in terms of frame quality? The Blackshark V2 was lightweight, and we felt no problems wearing them for more than 5 hours.
Our tester felt that he was wearing nothing on his head as it was quite light. However, the earcups are not designed very well. Besides, we did not like the size extension. In most units, they extend from the headband.
The earcups ride on the metal rails, which were a bit frustrating to look at. It was the same stuff, and you may not have a silky adjusting setting. The earcups on the V2 were slightly loose than most models we have tested.
The build quality of the V2 X was also lightweight. The tester felt that the frame of the V2 X was lighter. Though the body build of the V2 was good, it was much better on the V2 X. We did not understand the purpose of the green cable because it stretches the cable with it.
This can cause it to break or get damaged. That means you will have to purchase a new cable for the headset or replace it entirely. The size of your head does not matter because both these models could absorb them easily.
We were not entirely convinced that they could withstand accidental falls or hits. Overall, the build quality of the V2 X was much better than the V2, even though the former is priced cheaper.
As you can see, there is a significant variation in the build quality of both headsets.
AUDIO PERFORMANCE
Again, the audio quality of the gaming headsets is most likely going to be the same. We were not surprised with the performance of both the units. They come infused with the TriForce 50mm drivers.
However, the Razer Blackshark V2 comes with the higher-end model of the drivers in the name of TriForce Titanium. Though the basic sound profile is the same, the audio performance is there.
The high-end of the earcups on the V2 is more emphasized. You can hear the sound quite loud and clear. Basically, everything is smooth, and the bleeding is relatively more minor. When you use the sound card on the V2, it sounds loud.
The earcups on the V2 X make a mild difference on both the headsets. It is pretty more decadent on the unit. You can use it for playing Counter-Strike Global Offense for an immersive experience. We cannot say that it lacked some frequency.
The V2 X sounds on par with the G Pro X that costs a lot. All in all, both the Razer Blackshark V2 and the V2 X models come with sublime audio performance. You will not be disappointed with either of them.
MICROPHONE PERFORMANCE
If you read the comments and feedback of the consumers about the Razer Blackshark V2 and the V2 X microphone, you will be stunned. They have commended its ability. Let us read and find out whether it can live up to the hype?
The Razer Blackshark V2 has exceptional microphone capabilities. We felt that the sound profile of the microphone on the V2 was good. Once you are plugged into the USB sound card, you can then set it accordingly.
Razer has designed an exceptional microphone, ensuring that it can unleash its potential. You can also use it on the motherboard. Of course that is up to you whether you want to use the USB sound card of the motherboard.
You can also bypass the sound card if you want. That is because when you have more resolution, you have a slow pickup. We plugged the V2 X into the motherboard and expected a similar kind of sound quality.
It did not disappoint us. However, please note that the V2 X is a cheaper version of the V2 model. The unit comes with more brand value, with the only flaw the microphone is non-removable.
We felt that the V2 X microphone offers you with an excellent sound that is not compressed. But microphone of the V2 X is sensitive than the one found on the V2. We recommend the V2 X here because it was on par with the Sennheiser models that come under $100.
COMPATIBILITY
Both the Razer Blackshark V2 and the V2 X are compatible with your laptop, PC, and most of the gaming consoles which are available in the market today. You can effortlessly connect them with the USB cable provided.
That should not be a problem at all. Let us look at the compatibility of both the units briefly. The Razer Blackshark V2 comes with a USB sound card. What is unique about this sound card? Using it, you can do many things.
For starters, you can connect using the Razer Synapse software. When you choose THX Spatial Audio as a default source, you are set to go. Both the headsets work similarly, so you may want to have this in your mind.
The surround sound on the V2 is sublime on the PC and laptop. The same can be said about the microphone setting too. It gains more sensitivity providing you with stunning music. You will love the fact that it has an audio enhancer DAC for connecting on the USB.
Additionally, users can also make use of the THX Spatial Audio through Windows 10 operating system. On the V2 X, you could feel the same sound effect on the earcups and the microphone. That is thanks to the volume normalization.
You can even whisper slowly, and the person at the other end will be able to hear your words crisply clearly. The vocal clarity on the V2 X was astounding. It designs a highly processed voice. We also loved the ambient sound reduction feature in the V2 X as it was exceptional.
It can act in real-time without coming with any latency. You can also control the volume effortlessly using the microphone equalizer settings. The V2 processes good compatibility features, but the V2 X came with more options.
On the whole, the Blackshark V2 and the V2 X have superb compatibility features infused in them. It comes down to your needs.
PRICE
The Razer Blackshark V2 is priced under the $130 range. In this price range, you have got some exceptional models like the Sennheiser GSP 300, the HyperX Cloud 2, and SteelSeries Arctis 5. These are reputed units in the market.
But we strongly felt that the V2 is an ideal match for the units mentioned. They have some exceptional features infused in them for the price. At the same time, we are also delighted about the Razer Blackshark V2 X because, at only $80, this has the capability to be one of the best units in the under $100.
The $30 cheap cousin brother, Razer Kraken X, is not worth comparison. There is a price difference of more than $40 between the two units. If you are worried about the budget, you can go ahead with the V2 X.
However, you may want to go with the V2 when you want exceptional sound quality.
VERDICT
The Razer Blackshark V2 vs V2 X gaming headset comparison review has ended. We hope that you liked it and learned more about these two top-notch models. There is no denying the fact that Razer manufactures sublime headsets.
The Razer Blackshark V2 is a good model having outstanding neutral sound quality. We liked what we heard about the different genres. However, the bass and treble were inconsistent. Gamers were satisfied with the companion software as it enabled them to adjust the sound.
Additionally, the USB sound card lets you customize the sound and microphone performance. It also comes with access game-oriented features. But the noise isolation was disappointing. The headset was compatible with your laptop, PC, PS5.
Sadly, it does not work with the Xbox Series X. The Razer Blackshark V2 X has a sublime body design and elegant appearance. They do not appear like your casual units. It comes with a sublime fitting, but the noise isolation was poor.
But they are gaming headsets and get the job done sublimely. We felt that the noise quality in them was stunning. Its microphone can effortlessly capture your voice due to the TRRS cable. These are compatible with consoles.
For less than $130, the V2 is a good choice. However, we were blown away by the performance of the V2 X. We feel that it is a strong contender throughout 2021 from Razer. Maybe the reason to choose the V2 unit would be for the USB dongle and EQ setting.
