Microsoft Surface Pro 7 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 (Comparison Review)

If you are looking for a decent tablet in the market, then today is your lucky day? We are going to talk about two amazing tablets, the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 vs the Samsung Electronics Galaxy Tab S7.

Microsoft and Samsung are two behemoths in the electronic segment. They both have managed to sell millions of products in several segments. However, while Microsoft specializes in the software and hardware market, Samsung excels in smartphones, tablets, laptops, and home appliances.

In today’s review, we have put up both their latest models to find out the winner. We can assure you that it is a rollercoaster and a close call in the end. After all, the review is going to be on two phenomenal tablets that are selling like hotcakes in the market.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 model is a good tablet. One would have thought that the manufacturer had fixed most of the issues bothering the Pro 6 model. Unfortunately, though the Pro 6 tablet was a good unit, it did not manage to reach the sales figures the maker would have hoped for.

We felt that Microsoft had the right chance this time to make things right in ensuring that the product came outright. Unfortunately, we are not convinced it was able to do much to straighten the ship. However, that does not mean the company has not done anything at all.

They have done some remarkable inclusion in the form of the USB-C. The device is quite lightweight and powerful. These would be the best words to describe the Pro 7 model. However, if you are willing to spend more cash, then the Pro 8 might come in handy.

But when you are a student or working professional looking for a budget unit, this is the right fit. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 model could be the one users were looking to replace the iPad unit.

You can find the similarities between the iPad Air and this device. It is quite good. Because you can note the unique chassis, elegant-looking display, opulent speakers, and flawless S Pen. Though the Tab S7 looks amazingly sleek, is infused with dramatic features, and has a powerful processor, it lags behind the iPad Air.

You can forgive the manufacturer because it does cost much cheaper than the iPad Air and the Pro. However, we are here to discuss and put it to the test with the Surface Pro 7. The model comes as the younger brother in the Tab S7 unit.

The display is quite large for a tablet and is one of the biggest. You will be delighted to know that the aspect ratio of the model is 16:10. It has an excellent refresh rate of 120Hz. The powerful speakers give you a pleasant listening experience.

The design of the tablet is also highly incredible. You can find that it comes with aluminum chassis that is light, durable, and portable. Moreover, unlike Microsoft, the maker gives you with the S Pen in the package itself, which can be attached at the rear of the tablet.

Let us read the comparison review and find out more about the products. Finally, we have given the winner at the end of the review.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab S7: Design & Features

The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 tablet comes with a lot of hope that is rested on its shoulders. Unfortunately, while the maker has included the USB-C port, there are not many changes that we can think of happening in the model.

The measurements are still the same, along with the weight. Besides, it comes infused with the same kind of matte black and silver aluminum finishes. The display is around 12.3″ and comes with a resolution of 2736×1824.

That roughly comes to 267 pixels per inch with an aspect ratio of 3:2. It is quite elegant, sharpy, and aggressive in appearance. However, the specification has not changed much because of the lack of updates.

The model is lightweight and portable. You can easily place it inside your backpack and move it around at the office or university. It should not bother you. Now, for the update. You can find that the new unit has a USB 3.1 standard port.

It does not come with the Thunderbolt 3. Sadly, Apple and other makers have adopted the Thunderbolt 3. But the microphone on the unit is fantastic and provides you with terrific feedback.

You can use Cortana in your voice. Moreover, the keyboard is stunning and comes very responsive. Users will get a premium feel to it. We think that the manufacturer has done in this aspect of things.

Not to mention, you will find that the device comes with no bloatware at all. You can also find the Windows Hello facial recognition feature in it. It makes use of the infrared camera that is present close to the webcam.

Moreover, it is quite fast. You can also find another feature in the form of the Your Phone that allows you to sync to other Android smartphones to respond to other messages. You can also take calls.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 tablet is a terrific model that comes with eloquent features that are present in it. In addition, you will love the colors that the model is available in. Samsung is always known for its design and measurement.

The model’s design is nicely done and almost on par with the iPad Air or the iPad Pro. Additionally, the color options are something that we liked. Finally, the display of the tablet is fabulous and just amazing.

The quality of the images and pictures is just amazing. In addition, the tablet weighs only 1.1 pounds and is lighter than the Surface Pro 7. At the rear of the device, you can find a small bump to place your S Pen that comes with the product.

We liked the placement of the buttons too on the device. They are just where you would have wanted them to be. It has a power button that is also used as the fingerprint sensor and the volume rocker.

You can use the SD memory reader to expand your storage capacity. The resolution found on the tablet is around 2560×1600, which provides opulent image quality. The pictures of the video are simply pristine.

The brightness found in the device is close to 500 nits. However, it is slightly lower than what you can get in the iPad Pro. But you would want to note the price difference between the two devices.

The refresh rate of the S7 is something that is worthy of mention here. The makers have offered you a glazing 120Hz display for the price range. This is not present on the Pro 7 product.

You can enable the settings and watch videos. Every image or scene provides you with an incredible view of it. All in all, the tablets come with an opulent design. They are lightweight and portable.

You can take them with you wherever you want. They are almost designed the same with similar display sizes of 12.3 & 12.4 inches and resolutions, respectively. But the display power of the S7 is slightly better than that of the Pro 7.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab S7: Setup & Performance

The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 tablet comes with a decent setup & performance. It makes use of the Intel Core i5 CPU. That is on par with the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet. You also have it in the form of a Dell Latitude 7200 2-in-1 tablet.

But that model also comes with an Intel Core i7 and 16GB of memory. However, you can notice that the HP Spectre x360 & Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 are exceptional laptops and tablets as well. They have the capability to provide you with more power than tablet-first machines.

The battery working life of the Surface Pro 7 tablet is second to none, with close to 8 hours. This was expected and decent. But, of course, you have massive battery capabilities from the likes of Apple Air & Pro that can run for more than 12-14 hours.

The Intel Core i5 is a major shot in the arm for the Surface Pro 7, making it one of the best tablets. Its performance is superb, offering you with an amazing burst of power. Unlike the Pro 6, which came with a lower battery and performance, it is much better here.

Like we mentioned earlier, the only major difference between the previous unit and the Pro 7 model is the USB-C port. It would have been nicer if they provided it with the Thunderbolt 3. Moreover, the display has thick bezels that all users may not like.

It was alright for us, but we just felt that they were slightly off track compared to the models from Apple, Samsung, and Lenovo. It is safe to say that the Surface Pro 7 tablet is a fine example of Microsoft’s push towards the market.

The electronic giant is working hard to stay on top with intense competition from other makers. That is good to see. The tablet comes nicely designed, has decent features, and has powerful battery capability.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 tablet comes with the incredible Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chip. You know that you would experience a quickness in the device’s power. It is sufficient for providing you with enough power for multitasking.

You can run several Chrome tabs and watch the 1080p YouTube video flawlessly. Besides, we also added Spotify. You can also place some Google docs if you want. The tablet can absorb all of them with ease.

However, the Geekbench 5 multi-core score of 3,074 is not something they can be proud of. Because the iPad Pro 2020 comes with 4,635, the Air model has a staggering 4,262. Of course, not to be left behind, the 10th Gen Core i5 Surface Pro 7 comes with an enormous 4,878.

Before we forget, the camera of the tablet is good. It is ideal for attending classes, video conferencing, having meetings with clients, and so on. We even took some selfies, and the textures of the photos came out well.

Finally, the device is capable of taking notes. It is somewhat ironic that they took so long. But, that is because the Galaxy Note was produced for note-taking purposes. Now, with the help of the Samsung Notes app, all devices can be synced.

A notable feature of the Tab S7 is the new stylish S Pen. We felt that it is a real booster to the model. The responsiveness and the flow offered from the S Pen are simply amazing. So naturally, you would like the manner in which you can write, draw, and move around with it.

Though it is on par with the Apple 2nd Gen Pencil, some improvements could have been made. But the Apple 2nd Gen Pencil comes for an additional $130. The keyboard is another accessory that you would love to have on the tablet.

The speed of typing is good. You can reach close to 80WPM, which is pretty fast and excellent. This is a strong performance from a keyboard. However, we felt that it was not on par with the Surface Pro 7 keyboard that had the edge over this unit.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab S7: Price

The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 model is priced under $1000. We are referring to the 8GB RAM & 128GB storage space model. It is next to the base model. So, you can imagine the cost of owning the top-end model that goes up all the way to $1500.

Basically, you will be spending close to $1500. If you plan on getting the iPad Pro 12.9″, then you will have to pay close to $1480. However, you will have to purchase the accessories separately.

Some of the features include a good design that is quite light at 1.7 pounds—the aspect ratio of unit 3:2. The battery working life of the model provides you with more than 10 hours. It can charge quickly from empty to 80% in 1 hour.

They also offer you with a free upgrade to Windows 11 when available. The Samsung Electronics Galaxy Tab S7 is priced under $680. So there is a massive difference of close to $350 between the models.

The tablet comes with a 12.4″ display that provides you with immense comfort. Besides, you are provided with brilliant colors whether you are working inside or outside the house. Therefore, the model is an excellent option for study, work, and entertainment purposes.

You can draw, clip, tap using the S Pen. Additionally, you can also take notes in class and then be able to sketch the idea if you want. Users have complimented the S Pen because of its responsive feeling and touch on paper-like drawings.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab S7: Verdict

We have ended our comparison review between the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 vs the Samsung Electronics Galaxy Tab S7. We hope that you enjoyed reading the post and were able to make your decision.

If you are still finding it difficult to make a decision, then we suggest you read the post again. You will come across some things that we might have missed our earlier. The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 model is an exceptional tablet.

The Surface Pro 7 tablet is ample proof from Microsoft that they are serious about invading the tablet market. Moreover, it is heartening to note that they have infused several upgrades on their tablet models in this segment with the USB-C port and the Ice-lake CPU.

However, consumers might just be put off with the massive price range of $750 only for the product. But they could have provided the unit with some juice. The USB-C port found on it works flawlessly, but there is no Thunderbolt 3, and the display bezels were slightly off the mark.

Having said that, the Surface Pro 7 cannot be labeled as a major leap from the Pro 6 tablet. So if you own a Pro 6, we may not suggest you upgrade to this unit. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 could be a second-to-none model in the Android segment.

The maker has got everything right this time. That is a pleasant surprise from Samsung. The design is exquisite; there is an awesome display and a spectacular performance from the tablet.

Sadly, the software needs major tweaking, which can be the major deciding factor for our users. If you are particular about the software and the applications, then you might be slightly disappointed.

Our winner in this comparison review between the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 model vs the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 unit is the Surface Pro 7 tablet. There are just too many infused features in the tablet that make it hard to ignore.
